Neva D. Workinger, 92, formerly of Monroe, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Adams Woodcrest. She was born on September 27, 1924, in Adams County, IN, the daughter of the late Henry and Ona (Durbin) Cook. On October 21, 1944, she married Charles E. Workinger and after 70 years together, he preceded her in death on March 8, 2015.
She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Monroe United Methodist Women. She was also involved in Christian Outreach in Largo, Florida. She worked as a lifelong homemaker and also was the co-owner and secretary of Monroe Grain. She was also the secretary for Monroe United Methodist Church and Stucky Furniture.
Neva is survived by her son, Gary L. (Arlene) Workinger of Monroe; 2 daughters, Pat A. (Dan) Michaels and Judy K. (Ron) Collins both of Decatur; 15 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Esther Ehrsam, Alice Schott, and 3 brothers, Glen, Gale, and Gerald Cook.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 5, 2017 in the Monroe United Methodist Church, with calling 1 hour prior from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Pastor Char Allen will be officiating and burial will take place in Ray Cemetery.
