M. Maxine Schultz, 93, of Decatur, IN, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017, at Adams Woodcrest. She was born on June 6, 1924, in Adams County, IN, the daughter of the late Carl J. and Celeste M. (Omlor) Steigmeyer. On May 6, 1947, she married Raymond B. Schultz and after 65 years together, he preceded her in death on November 21, 2012
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and of its Rosary Society. She was a lifelong homemaker and also retired from Penguin Point in Decatur. Raymond and Maxine were members of the Adams County Camping Club and were known as the Bacon Burners.
Maxine is survived by 3 sons, Richard J. (Anita) Schultz of Ft. Wayne, Donald P. (Amy) Schultz, and Gregg L. (Tami) Schultz both of Decatur; a daughter, Cathie A. Davis of Decatur; a sister, Eileen Thompson of New Haven; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by a sister and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. in the Woodcrest Porter Auditorium and 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:15 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with calling 1 hour prior from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Fr. Bob J. Lengerich will be officiating and burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
