Bennett L. Kemp, 99, of Decatur, Indiana passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was born to the late Benjamin H. and Martha (Keene) Kemp on January 14, 1918 in Titusville, FL. He married Alice Tumbleson on August 18, 1956, she passed away on April 25, 2001.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Decatur Masonic Lodge F&AM 3571, Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne, Charter member of the Decatur Eagles Model Club and a Life member of the N.R.A.
Bennett was a licensed Professional Engineer and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He retired as an Aeronautical Engineer and also as a Professor from Ivy Tech.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Bennett is survived by 2 sons, Matthew L. (Laurie) Kemp of Indianapolis, IN and James E. (Terri) Kemp of Troy, MI; 1 daughter, Mrs. David (Sara J.) Schneider of Ft. Wayne, IN; 1 brother, Edwin R. Kemp of Level Line, TX; 1 sister, Laura L. Langley of Greensboro, N.C. and 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 brother, Robert A. Kemp and a sister.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph United Methodist Church on Reed Road in Ft. Wayne, IN. The family will receive friends after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to The Indiana Tech Archie T. Keene Scholarship or the A.C.C.F. Bennett Kemp Memorial Fund.
